On a rainy day, the spire of the Old Post Chapel can be seen rising above Fort Myer Henderson Hall, towards the clouds. The spire is clothed in a patina, that has developed through years of exposure to the elements. A patina is something transformed beautifully through age or use. This spire is a representation of all those that pass beneath it. Soldiers, veterans, families, spouses, and friends that support a higher purpose, an honor, and a duty. Serving our country each and every day.

Happy Birthday to the US Navy. The United States Navy was originally established as the Continental navy on 13 October 1775, when the Continental Congress authorized the procurement, fitting out, manning, and dispatch of two armed vessels to cruise in search of munitions ships supplying the British Army in America. Today we celebrate the creation of the United States Navy!
